There are many, many beautiful benefits and perks of home educating your children. Some of which include flexibility, focus on character development, choice of curriculum, self paced progress and so many more! This big list of the best online homeschool resources holds many places for you to find different tools that you can apply to your child’s home education.
No matter what age your homeschooled child or stage of education, there is no doubt that the internet has opened many doors for wonderful options and resources that are available to us now.
When I was homeschooled, we certainly did not have all of these wonderful tools online that can help open many doors for information, training, perspectives, new ideas and helpful tools. Although the internet is definitely a mixed bag, with many dangers and downsides, I am grateful to be homeschooling in a time when so much rich material and the wisdom of many others is at my fingertips.

Curriculum:
Ambleside Online –
I love Ambleside Online. Ambleside is a completely free, rich curriculum for a Charlotte Mason Education. Many families use Ambleside as their main curriculum, using their schedules, book lists etc. I love many of the suggestions found there, Charlotte Mason’s approach included many things I appreciate. Nature study, no formal studies until age 6/7, lots of time reading high quality literature and history, Bible studies, and focus on good character formation and habits.
The Good and the Beautiful
The Good and the Beautiful company has made homeschooling so much easier for so many families. They provide absolutely gorgeous core curriculum as well as enrichment subjects at a super affordable cost for families.
They are open and go curriculum, which you want, trust me, and focuses on cultivating a love of good quality literature, strong academics and maintains the joy of learning. I can’t say enough good things about these courses.
They even offer FREE PDF downloads of much of their resources, including free level 1-5 language arts courses, and math. We use their math and language arts courses, and are trying their science this year, too.
There are a lot of free resources beyond curriculum on their website and YouTube channel. as well, including narrated audio stories, a free PDF Marine Biology unit, and much more.
The Good and the Beautiful has a book list that deserves it’s own recognition. It is a huge list of awesome, clean and uplifting books for all reading levels. Take the guess work out of selecting books for your children, and know that they will have upstanding morals, high literary value and be worth their time. Anyone who has looked at the selection of most children/YA books lately and cringed, will find this book list to be a great relief.
The Peaceful Press –
The Peaceful Press offers lovely curriculum bundles for preschool and elementary age children. The Playful Pioneers, The Kind Kingdom, and The Precious People are all content bundles that contain bible, reading, narration, poetry, copy work, science, history, geography, art and practical skills. You just add in a math program and reading/phonics/grammer program. Free sample available!
Homeschool Help:
HSLDA –
HSLDA stands for Homeschool Legal Defense Association. This organization advocates for the freedom to homeschool your children. Their website offers a lot of support and information for many logistics, FAQs, legal questions, state laws, how to, grades and so much more.
Wild + Free
Wild + Free is a community of homeschool families. They offer content bundles, conferences and events, a podcast, access to Wild + Free local groups, and a vibrant Instagram community. LOTS of encouragement to be found here. No matter what style of homeschooling you do, this community is all about experiencing the “adventure, freedom and wonder of childhood”.
Teachers Pay Teachers –
Teachers Pay Teachers is a website that allows teachers and parents to create digital educational products to share with others. While most products are paid, many are free. There is something for just about any grade, subject and interest.
Facebook Groups –
I can’t compile a big list of the best homeschool online resources without reminding you of FB groups. Often times when I need some recommendations or info, I will hop onto Facebook and search some of my favorite groups. You can either post your own question, or you can use the search bar within a FB group, and see if there have been any posts already discussing the topic you are interested in.
Books:
Everand –
Everand is my favorite way to listen to audio books. They also have ebooks. You pay a small flat fee every month and can listen to as many audio books you want all month long. We use this service sooooo often. My daughter has been listening to the Boxcar Children stories during quiet time. They have so many to choose from. Many of the books on the Ambleside book list, classic children stories like Anne of Green Gables, Winnie the Pooh, Beatrix Potter… I have found many great mothering and homeschool books, as well as gardening, cooking, bestsellers, classics, on and on. TRY IT! This link will get you 2 free months to give it a whirl!!
Library Online Resources –
Hoopla, Libby, Digital Library, Inter-library loans, Kanopy, etc. – Check out your local libray website and see what resources are available! There are often MANY. Librivox –
Librivox is a huge, online audio book collection that is free to access. Many public domain stories and books have been read and recorded by volunteers and you can listen to anything you wish!
Christian Books –
Christianbooks.com is a site that has LOTS of great homeschooling curriculum, books and resources at really low prices. It’s one of the first places I check when I’m after a certain book.
Thrift Books –
The Thrift Books website is another place I go when I’m on the hunt for a certain book! They maintain a good selection and the prices can’t be beat!
Amazon Prime –
I mean, do I even have to explain this one? Free shipping on all the books, homeschool supplies, clothing and household supplies you need! Prime video has some great kid friendly shows and documentaries. The Prime Music even has some great folk, children music, hymns and more that you may like to use in your education lineup. Check out if Prime would be helpful for you!
Podcasts –
I was late to the pocast game, but I am hooked now! There is sooooo much value and education out there for homeschoolers, moms, and families. You can find just about any topic you are looking for.

I listen to podcasts on Apple Podcasts on my phone. You can search any of these on there by name to find them. If you don’t have that service, you can check out Google Podcasts. I’m pretty sure they would all be on there, too.
Online Games/Programs:
Xtra Math –
I discovered Xtra Math not too long ago, and its a fun, free computer game that helps your kids to memorize their math facts and answer them quickly.
Reading Eggs –
Reading Eggs is a paid educational program that lets your children play games that sneak in lots of phonics and reading practice, and it comes with a subscription to a program called Math Seeds as well!
Kahn Academy –
Kahn provides free courses and lessons for all ages of students. They also have a very cute, free app called Kahn Academy Kids (search for it in your app store on a device).
Starfall –
Starfall is a free online learning program to help younger elementary age kids (K – 3rd grade level) with phonics and reading concepts and math. They use fun, animated games and lessons.
YouTube:
Deep Space Sparkle –
Bright and cheerful, this channel has tons of really beautiful drawing, painting and art project tutorials.
Art for Kids Hub –
More free kids drawing lessons! Learn how to draw just about anything in a graphic, playful and colorful style that is fun for kiddos.
SciShow Kids –
This channel is super cute, offering short, but very well made videos on almost any scientific/nature topic you can think of! I love to use them to enrich a topic that we are studying! They have experiment videos, too.
Homeschool Pop –
Homeschool Pop is a YouTube channel that is loaded with videos for kids on many topics. Telling time, rocks, biographical stories about individuals from history, U.S. states, the list goes on and on. Another great, free resource to incorporate into your lessons!
The Good and the Beautiful –
The Good and the Beautiful is so good, I think I’ve mentioned them at least 3 times! But yes, they also have YouTube channels! There is a science channel, a kids channel with learning songs, and a main channel that has a bunch of videos telling you about the curriculum and showing you flip throughs of the books.
