Jump to RecipeEggs are some of my very favorite things to eat. Are you an egg lover? This is one of my favorite ways to eat them.
It’s a good thing everyone in this house loves eggs, because with our 6 laying hens putting out almost an egg everyday each, we have to keep up!
My cozy butter eggs recipe is something I’ve been eating for years and years, and I have memories of making them with my Grandmother.
She called them coddled eggs, but I think cozy eggs has a catchier sound to it!
I call them cozy butter eggs because doesn’t it look cozy tucked into that little ramekin?
Another of my favorite egg recipes is Made from Scratch Deviled Eggs! Soooo yummy! Check that post out, it’s another super easy recipe.

Directions for Making Cozy Butter Eggs Recipe
Start with a nice, deep fry pan and greased ramekins. I use butter, olive oil, coconut oil or whatever to grease the dishes. But don’t skip this step! It makes cleanup a lot easier.
Crack the eggs into the ramekins. 1 or 2 eggs fit fine in one dish.
Pour water into the pan around the ramekins, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch or so. Pop on a lid and bring up to a simmer.
Simmer over medium heat until desired doneness. Cook time will vary based on size of dish, size of egg, etc… So keep an eye on it.
A general idea is around 4-5 minutes for a soft yolk egg (hard whites, soft yolk), and 6-7 minutes for a cooked through egg.
When they are done, carefully remove ramekins from pan with tongs or a oven mitt. Hot, hot!!!
Sometimes some water has splashed into the egg cups from cooking, so you can gently tip them over the sink and drain any liquid.
Then the best part. I top it off with a little pat of butter and some fresh grated Parmesan cheese (or as we like to call it around here “Farmer John” cheese), and salt and pepper.
