I must confess that I am slightly obsessed with Instagram.
Before I share 5 of my favorite Instagram accounts, let me tell you why I love Instagram so much.
I am a very visual person, love beautiful things, and I love how Instagram lets you get to know and observe lives of interesting people and places you never would otherwise!
There are an unbelievable number of beautiful, inspiring, interesting and educational accounts.
Some of these folks that I have followed for many months or even years, might have no idea I exist, yet they are actually a part of my day. I enjoy keeping track of what they are doing, seeing what they are eating, living vicariously through their vacations to interesting places, getting ideas for home decor, homeschooling, crafts, essential oils, and money management, and so much more. It may sound a little bit dramatic, but I truly have broadened my horizons and learned valuable things from Instagram.
Lately, I have been making an effort to reach out and comment and communicate with some of my favorite folks, just letting them know I appreciate their content and swapping thoughts and ideas.
I have always been the silent observer type, but I am coming to appreciate my “Insta-friendships”. One of the most beneficial things that a content creator can do is to get to know other content creators and make some online friendships. And as a stay-at-home or work-at-home mom, having a little adult interaction, even if it’s just on Instagram can feel like sanity.
Here are (in no particular order, and there are sooo many more) 5 of my favorite Instagram accounts right now:
(These links will only worked if you are currently logged into Insta)
1. lavenderandleeks –
Beautiful photos of her allotment, tiny purple shed and everything green and growing. Katie lives in the UK. She also has a lovely YouTube channel and website!
2. oldjoy –
Kristen never fails to make me laugh. She has a bajillion followers, but remains real, raw and hilarious. I love her sense of style. She has a beautiful home that is sometimes clean and sometimes a wreck, a husband and 4 kids. I soooo appreciate her keeping things real and being herself. She brightens my day. She also has chickens.
3. maandpamodern –
A home school mom of four from California who the Lord, vintage and mid-century modern design, books and hiking with her kids. I find Greta to be very encouraging and full of good thoughts and wisdom. She has really impacted the way I think about many things involving my marriage, kids and home. Greta is pretty dang cool.
4. weelicious –
This account has inspired me to eat better many a time. Catherine is very devoted to feeding her family well. Incredible smoothies every morning and she shows what she puts in! And it’s not just all bananas and almond milk. She has really clever and useful ideas about food, nutrition, and teaching your children to love to eat well.
5. floretflower –
I first found Erin when she was featured in a magazine quite a few years ago. She grows a cut flower farm in Washington state that is To. Die. For. I even cut the article out because I liked her and what she was doing so much! Fast forward a bit to my introduction to Instagram a few years ago and her gorgeous photos of her dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, anemones, cosmos… the list goes on and on. These flower photos y’all. I mean. I just want to dive into the photos. She has written a book that is equally as stunning –> Floret Farm’s Cut Flower Garden: Grow, Harvest, and Arrange Stunning Seasonal Blooms
It is hard to only name 5, I’m sure I will do other installments of Follow Friday Insta edition.
What do y’all think of the fairly new stories feature? If you don’t know, you can shoot short clips of video or upload a photo that runs together, clip after clip to create a “story” that lasts for 24 hours and then is gone. I love watching these. Folks really are more themselves and these can be so cute and funny!
I have gotten brave and have uploaded quite a few videos, so keep an eye out for my next ones. If you like to chuckle, anyway. Ha! Also, come over and follow me on Instgram, I love posting pics of what the kids are up to, what we are doing and you know, all around fascinating stuff like that! Whoohoo!
