Free Printable Valentine Cards with Puns are a quick and thoughtful way to tell your loved ones you are thinking of them this season.
I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. Growing up, I remember having Valentine’s tea parties and even as an adult, my mom and I would gather together a few friends and family members and have a special crafty party planned with finger food, lots of laughing and some sort of little craft project.
What fun! Something about it brings out the crafty-ness in a gal!
This project is perfect for ALL ages!

This is a simple and easy project to prepare for your loved ones that adds a personal touch.
There’s nothing as nice as receiving a handwritten or handmade note.
Sending actual, paper mail is such a lost sentiment in these days of Insta-Facebook days. But you have to admit, as much as these platforms claim to bring everyone together and they do that in some ways, I’m not sure that the way it ends up working out has been very nurturing for real relationships for most folks.

Okay, okay, I won’t be on my social media soapbox but for a sec! Haha!
But can we just all agree that true connections and meaningful human relationships are best nurtured in more hands on, real life ways than a “like” or scroll?
By all means, the screens and access to information and contact make life a whole lot more convenient… And I have actually made some real friendships through social media, so I am super thankful for that!
But maybe if we used it as a small supplemental part of aiding connection instead of the main way, we’d be better off.
Anyway……. Back to talking about the printable cards!! 😉

I experimented with printing these on stock card paper, and watercolor paper.
Printing on stock card paper (as shown above):
Card stock is something pretty convenient that a lot of people already have in their home or office, so this may be the way most would want to go.
It is as simple as grabbing and downloading the pdf file of the cards, printing them out on your choice of paper, and then cutting them out. The card stock is nice and sturdy, easy to cut and you could add colored pencil or watercolor touches onto it if desired.
Be aware though, that watercolor paint on card stock can cause puckering of the paper a bit and you want to avoid getting your brush and paper too wet. I would tape the card down to your work surface with painters tape or masking tape to avoid curling.
Printing on watercolor paper (as shown above):
I was very pleasantly surprised with the outcome of printing these on watercolor paper. If you have watercolor paper in your home or are making a run to a craft or art shop, I for sure would recommend you use it.
The main thing you have to do first, is cut your watercolor paper down to proper size so it will go through the printer. You want to cut it to 8.5 x 11 inches. Below image is me tracing a piece of printer paper onto the watercolor paper to get the right size.
Then, it’s as easy as printing on card stock. It comes out beautifully. Just cut carefully around the inside edge of the outline and you’re ready to watercolor paint!
Also tape down these, it works so much better than dealing with your wet paper curling up on you. Remove the tape when your card has dried.

Free Printable Valentine’s Cards Tips …
- Tape your card down to your work surface before painting with watercolors so the paper doesn’t curl up.
- Be careful not to smudge the ink right after it prints. I noticed especially with the watercolor paper that it’s easy to smear the ink for a few minutes.
- You have to cut carefully along the inside edge of the grey outline. It would be even easier for those of you that have a paper cutter.
- These cards fit in a traditional greeting card sized envelope. If you don’t have one that size, you could always create your own envelope with paper or a pretty magazine page by folding and cutting. See how to do that here.
I hope you enjoy this free printable and use them as a way to connect with somebody in your life!
